The 2001 BMG Bowling Party

Deborah Gibson's back, visit her site here.

a very funny picture of Danny Tengalia...he sent this to a house music mailing list I am on.

a picture of me with my best friend (and house music guru) Phil Dickerson at WMC 2000. Phil introduced me to souful and gospel house music and I've been a fan ever since. Sadly, Phil passed away in January 2001.

WMC 1997 with Frankie Knuckles No, he's not mad at me...it was 6 o'clock in the morning and we both needed sleep! Photo taken by Phil Dickerson.

Wresch Dawidjan (12" Dance), Harry Towers (Popular Records), myself & dj Bobby Jay from Brooklyn in Las Vegas getting into trouble!

With Traci Lords when she was in town promoting

the 'Control' single in early 1995. Visit her website here.

Me enjoying a cocktail being poured by the president of Nervous Records Michael Weiss at the Nervous Breakfast, Winter Music Conference 2002. Check out Nervous Records online!

With Nile Rodgers. This was when Nile came to give an oral presentation in late 2002 during the EMP "Disco, A Decade of Saturday Nights" exhibit. Visit his website here.

Our membership being cute...this is what they think of people who don't service record pools or only send 5 copies .

Christmas 2002. The NwDMA record pool membership hanging out with the ever so cool folks from Lynx Records featuring Nina.

jacintaHanging out with the lovely Jacinta backstage after her recent performance at local Seattle nightspot Purr. Her uptempo dance style has produced a couple of hits for us here at the pool and she an all new single for 2007, "Can't Keep It A Secret." More information available here.

Our godfather and spiritual mentor, Ramon Wells. It was because of Raomn and his patience and guidance that this pool entered the path that we continue on today. While we will be forever indebted to him, Ramon has moved on to bigger and better things and is is living happily in New York City while running dot dot dot Records putting our great house music. Note the mirror ball..you can take the boy out of the DJ booth...

Myself, Ramon Wells (dot dot dot Records) and Randy Muller (Plaza Records) at WMC 2002. photo courtesy of DJ Ron. Some of you from the old disco days will remember a group called Skyy ("Call Me, Let's Celebrate") and Brass Construction ("Movin', Changin')? That was Randy!

meEarliest picture I could find of me, John England. This is from the spring of 1981 with my soon-to-be second wife Heather at a club called Papa Bear's in Seattle. At Papa Bear's I emceed and DJ'ed, but what made it unique was the club featured the first all male revue in the city of Seattle (we had started in late 79.) I also spun after hours from 2 AM until 6 AM.

The original founder of this record pool, Dana T. Andrews. When Dana started the pool, we were called the "Electric Canary Record Pool" in 1977. Myself and Ed Barthel are the 2 remaining members from the original pool. In 1980/1981, a group of us approached Dana and bought the pool from him, turned it into a non-profit organization and renamed it Seattle Dance Music. In the mid 80's we expanded and renamed ourselves Northwest Dance Music when we started covering the states of Oregon and Idaho and enlarged the membership.

Dana T. Andrews, b Nov 21st, 1954, d Aug 15th 1989. This photo was taken about 2 or 3 years before he passed away. Some remember Dana when he spun at the Monastery (or the Sanctuary as it was first called) which was run by George Freeman here in Seattle. The Monastery featured the best sound system we've ever had, a sound system that people still talk about to this day. Ahh, and the music, cutting edge and underground mixed with the dance hits of the day. Dana was the one who taught me about music programming and how to take chances. We miss him everyday and hope that in some small way we are continuing his legacy with the same love of dance music that he felt, too. Little known fact, Dana absolutely loved the sound of real violins in disco music.
